Barbecue

Over the weekend we had relatives over for a barbecue.
It was such a beautiful day. Perfect weather.

The deck, filled with lovely flowers.
The food table. Yayy. The best area.

I love desi version barbecues, cause of the way the food is made.
With the spicy masala and yummy other little delicacies.

Before they were grilled. My favorite. <3

I should learn how this is made..

Now lemme get this straight. I do eat.
Just small meals throughout the day. Really.
Parties are the only place you'll see me stuff my face.
And people wonder where I put it all away..
My stomach is bigger than it looks.

Well anyways, my bro doesnt believe I ate the burger below.
Twice-over. No wait. I meant to say 2 different burgers.
I didnt like regurgitate it if thats what your thinking.
We made a bet if I could eat the whole thing.
And I did. Hah. In yo face foolio bro!

Yummy. <3 I'm drooling again.

Blessing Bag

Topic of the Day: Homeless People

My father actually befriended a homeless person once. He works in D.C. Everyday for lunch he would go and eat at Chipotle or somewhere and then jog up and down the capital steps for exercise. Since he would do that everyday Monday through Friday, a homeless man came to know him. My father would come home and talk about how smart this individual was and circumstances not in his control made him homeless. One day the homeless man told my father it was his birthday so he took him out for lunch, gave him $50 and dropped him off at the employment agency wishing him the best of luck in his endeavor for a new job and getting his life straight. That was on a Friday. Come Monday my father sees the homeless man in the same spot, same clothes but with a cloud of smoke around him and bloodshot eyes. Turns out homeless man walked out of the employment agency and spent the $50 my father gave him on drugs and cigarettes. Sigh. All that for nothing.

Real homeless people will appreciate anything that is given to them.

A friend of mine, Christina, likes to buy meals from McDonalds and give them to homeless people. :)
I love people who look out for others. Good traits to have! No one has ever become poor by giving.

I came across a great idea I found off of Pinterest, Blessing Bags! :)

They come with a variety of necessities that I think someone that is homeless would really be thankful to have. I was so excited seeing this I rushed to Target after work to make my own blessing bags! I decided to make a boy version as well as a girl that holds items geared towards that specific gender.

All together this cost me about $30.
So $15 for each blessing bag that I made (2).

This is what I had in each one:
Tissues, Gum, Hand Sanitizer, Shampoo, Lotion, Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Chapstick, Nail Set (Nail Cutter, Filer, Tweezers), Soap, Emergency Kit (Bandaids, Gauze, etc), Deodorant, 2 Granola Bars, 2 Fruit Snacks and 1  Peaches Fruit Cup! :)

Here is another version of a blessing bag with different treats inside. Necessities still the same.

The first blessing bag that I gave to a homeless person he got so excited, he put his cardboard sign down, sat right there on the pavement and was like "wow there's a little bit of everything in here!" It made me happy that I got to brighten someone else's day!
